🌦 Happy October! Overnight, the on-campus vegetation shifts into a beautiful array of autumnal colors, which will stick around throughout the month. Halloween decorations also crop up in the dark of night, and campus buildings are bedecked in gourds and cobwebs for the occasion.

Czernobog Anger gains the dubious distinction of being the first student in the cohort to receive detention today. They’re instructed to report to the Detention Bog on Witherbloom campus and fitted with a magical cuff which will magically ping their Dean if they leave the bog before their time is served. The bog is unpleasant, but not particularly dangerous; they may have to fight off a few bothersome pests, but there are no moldering monsters in this bog.

🏹 The Intramural Silkball Club has its first official practice. After a muddy demonstration of the basic rules, the freshmen are informed they’ll need to pick a team captain for their cohort. This role is filled by Tilana Kapule for the sophomores, Melwythorne for the juniors, and Javenesh Stoutclaw for the seniors.

It’s Killian Lu’s birthday, and several upperclassmen have booked out Bow’s End Tavern for the evening to host a surprise party for him. Any freshmen who try to get into the tavern tonight uninvited are turned away, but Bow’s End employees may witness Killian’s awkward and ungrateful response to being ambushed by half the senior class. He stays only an hour before quietly leaving.

Farrow Strangewayes seems to be on a run of bad luck today. First, a black cat crosses their path on their way to class in the morning. At dinner, they spill an entire shaker of salt into their pumpkin soup. Finally, as they’re brushing their teeth before bed, their mirror spontaneously shatters. Yikes!

Lunulata is exploring the beautiful art installations of the Prismari Campus when a spat of rain drives them under a huge glass mushroom statue. While they’re hiding out, they catch sight of a pack of elemental otters frolicking in the flash-flooding caused by today’s particularly severe rainstorms.

🗺Excursion to Faerun. Dean Lisette and Professor Onyx are recruiting volunteers to help them investigate a mounting threat in Neverwinter Woods on the plane of Faerûn. Excursions off-campus can be dangerous, and Lisette impresses this on potential volunteers. However, those who accompany them have the opportunity to explore the city of Neverwinter, gain adventuring experience, and find special treasures (See below for details and sign-ups.)

Today, the sophomores are participating in a bonding activity that requires them to perform the most “good deeds” to win. Dinah has made a critical mistake in planning this activity, however, as she distributed golden star tokens to all the freshmen, juniors, and seniors on campus. Initially, students are instructed to hand these out to any sophomore who is helpful or kind to them… but she can’t be everywhere, and the entire system quickly devolves into an economy of chaos.
[Character K] sees Gallia of the Endless Dance demand Quentillius Melentor beg on his knees for a golden star. He complies, but she still doesn’t give it to him.
Grayson Wildemere offers to do Flavian Strangewayes’s laundry for a week if they turn over their star, and they negotiate him up to a month before making a deal.
Mina Lee attempts to convince a small group of freshmen that they should give her their stars just so Quentillius doesn’t win. [Character M] turns their star over for the cause, but Elinwe vch Daffyd isn’t convinced until Mina throws in a favor to be cashed in at a later date.
At several points throughout the day, Greta Gorunn can be seen lugging her fellow students around piggyback, including, impressively, the massive dryad Melwythorne. [Character O] also gets a piggyback ride from Greta, who runs them from one class to another in record time.

Bielobog Anger is studying in the Biblioplex stacks when they spot the panther-like creature that mauled Yrsa Eggjold last month. When they report this sighting to the Androsphinx who runs the Biblioplex, he folds his reading glasses up and says “Well, we better go take care of that.”
Together, Bielo and the Androsphinx return to the stacks to locate the creature. While the Androsphinx does the majority of the work, Bielo manages to get the killing blow in, earning them a bit of terse praise from the imposing librarian. This was a displacer beast, the Androsphinx explains. Sometimes they sneak up from the Archive. Nothing to worry about!
